Senior Product Manager
OpenLoopThis Senior Product Manager role oversees the insurance eligibility and benefits engine for a telehealth support platform, ensuring accurate coverage verification across complex payer networks.
What you’d own
- End-to-end insurance eligibility and benefits product
- Payer connection infrastructure and data normalization
- Client-facing APIs, configurations, and reporting tools
- Product roadmap for real-time/batch verification
Who it’s for
A fit if you…
- ✓You have 3+ years of specific healthcare revenue cycle or payer operations experience
- ✓You possess deep technical knowledge of EDI transactions (270/271) and eligibility workflows
- ✓You are comfortable working directly with engineers on data models and API tradeoffs
- ✓You have experience managing products in a B2B2C or white-label environment
Not for you if…
- ✗You prefer generalist RCM experience over deep, technical eligibility/benefits expertise
- ✗You prefer a highly structured environment with clear, pre-defined requirements
- ✗You are looking for a purely internal-facing role without client-facing responsibilities
Reading between the lines
- The emphasis on 'unglamorous' questions and 'denials/rework queues' implies you will be expected to solve high-stakes, messy data problems.
- A 'relatively flat organizational structure' combined with 'autonomy' suggests a high degree of self-direction and less hand-holding.
- The requirement to 'read the payer documentation yourself' signals that you will need to be self-sufficient in navigating complex, poorly documented external systems.

ABOUT OPENLOOP
OpenLoop was co-founded by CEO, Dr. Jon Lensing, and COO, Christian Williams, with the vision to bring care anywhere. Our telehealth support solutions are thoughtfully designed to streamline and simplify go-to-market care delivery for companies offering meaningful virtual support to patients across an expansive array of specialties, in all 50 states.
About the Role
As a Senior Product Manager at OpenLoop Health, you will operate as a senior individual contributor with broad strategic influence across the organization. This role is both internal and client-facing, with a strong emphasis on partnering directly with colleagues and clients to understand their needs, shape solutions, and ensure successful delivery of OpenLoop's products and services.
You'll own insurance eligibility and benefits end to end — the payer connections underneath it, the tooling our revenue cycle teams work in, the capabilities our clients consume, and the coverage information patients actually see.
Every virtual care visit OpenLoop powers starts with an unglamorous question: is this patient covered, and for what? Get it right and the rest of the revenue cycle works — the claim goes out clean, the patient knows what they owe before the visit instead of six weeks after, and clinicians spend their time on care. Get it wrong and the damage compounds into denials, surprise balances, rework queues, and patients who don't come back. Eligibility is the cheapest place in the revenue cycle to fix a problem and the most expensive place to miss one.
This role is ideal for a product manager who thrives in ambiguity, understands healthcare complexity, and excels at building strong client relationships while driving meaningful product outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Define and drive product strategy for insurance capture, real-time and batch eligibility verification, benefits detail, and coverage discovery — aligned with OpenLoop's business and clinical goals
- Drive accuracy, speed, and completeness of eligibility responses, and define how we normalize inconsistent payer data into benefit information that downstream systems and humans can trust
- Define how clients consume eligibility through APIs, configuration, and reporting, so capabilities scale across client models without a custom build each time
- Communicate roadmap priorities, tradeoffs, and timelines to both internal stakeholders and external partners
- Act as a trusted product advisor to senior leaders across Product, Services, Engineering, and Design teams
- Write clear, actionable product requirements and success metrics, and hold the work accountable to them: eligibility accuracy, encounters with an eligibility issue at time of service, eligibility-driven denial rate, manual verification touches per encounter, and payer coverage and uptime
Required
- 5+ years of product management experience, including significant experience working directly with customers or clients
- At least 3 years in healthcare revenue cycle, payer operations, or health insurance technology
- Hands-on knowledge of eligibility and benefits workflows specifically — not just RCM in general. You know what a 270/271 exchange does and doesn't tell you, and why two payers can return the same benefit three different ways
- Working fluency across the wider revenue cycle: insurance capture, claims submission, denials, patient billing, and how upstream eligibility errors surface downstream
- Demonstrated experience building, communicating, and managing product roadmaps
- Strong technical acumen — you work directly with engineers on APIs, data models, and integration tradeoffs, and you read the payer documentation yourself
- Data-driven in practice: comfortable in transactional data, troubleshooting anomalies, and validating hypotheses before building
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both internal teams and external stakeholders
Preferred
- Familiarity with virtual care, care delivery platforms, or healthcare operations
- Direct experience with clearinghouses or EDI transaction sets (270/271, 276/277, 837, 835), or with coverage discovery products
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial billing differences, and with multi-state operations
- Experience with Healthie or comparable EMR platforms
- Experience applying AI or automation to verification workflows, with a clear-eyed view of where it's reliable and where it isn't
- Background in a B2B2C or white-label environment where your product ships under someone else's brand
- SQL proficiency
OUR BENEFITS
In addition, for salaried positions you would also be eligible for:
- Medical, Dental, and Vision plans
- Flexible Spending/Health Savings Accounts
- Flexible PTO
- 401(k) + Company Match
- Life Insurance, Pet insurance, and more
OUR COMPANY
We have a relatively flat organizational structure here at OpenLoop. Everyone is encouraged to bring ideas to the table and make things happen. This fits in well with our core values of Autonomy, Competence and Belonging, as we want everyone to feel empowered and supported to do their best work.
Sound like a good fit? We’d love to meet you.
About OpenLoop
See all roles →OpenLoop is a white-label telehealth infrastructure platform that lets digital health companies, hospitals, retailers, and employers spin up branded virtual care without building the back-end themselves — clinical staffing, licensing and credentialing, EHR tech, payer coverage, RCM, and legal/compliance setup all included. The company serves 3M+ patients annually and supports both synchronous and asynchronous care across all 50 states. Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, OpenLoop offers a hybrid work environment and generous PTO. For a PM, it's a healthcare ops-heavy environment with deep regulatory complexity and B2B2C dynamics across very different customer types.
