Who it’s for
A fit if you…
- ✓You have 5+ years of experience in technical product management.
- ✓You have a background in fraud, risk, identity, or payments.
- ✓You are comfortable translating complex data patterns into clear requirements.
- ✓You enjoy collaborating with Data Science to optimize model performance.
Not for you if…
- ✗You prefer well-defined tasks over ambiguous, high-stakes risk problems.
- ✗You prefer a purely UX-focused role without heavy technical/data components.
- ✗You prefer a localized team rather than a distributed, global organization.
Reading between the lines
- The mention of 'emerging attack vectors' and 'fraud incidents' suggests a reactive component where you must respond quickly to active threats.
- The requirement to balance 'fraud loss' against 'customer conversion' implies a constant tension between security and growth metrics.

About Tala
See all roles →Tala is a digital financial services company that gives underbanked customers in emerging markets access to credit, money movement, and savings through a mobile app, with a cash-out network for markets where physical cash still matters. Its core is an AI-native underwriting engine built specifically for thin-file borrowers in informal economies rather than adapted from legacy credit systems, trained on more than a decade of repayment data across markets like Kenya, Mexico, the Philippines, India, and Vietnam. Founded in 2011, Tala has deployed over $8B to more than 14 million customers and is now opening its credit intelligence as infrastructure for partners and capital providers to build on. The team is remote-first and globally distributed, with offices from Nairobi to Mexico City, which makes it an interesting fit for a PM drawn to financial inclusion at scale.
