Principal Product Manager, API Platform

Shippo

This Principal Product Manager role focuses on infrastructure for a logistics platform. You will own the developer experience and technical standards for an API-first ecosystem serving global e-commerce.

What you’d own

  • API platform roadmap including label creation, MCP, and SDKs
  • Developer experience (onboarding, documentation, and SDK coverage)
  • Platform architecture and design standards for internal teams
  • MCP product evolution and integration paths

Who it’s for

A fit if you…

  • ✓You have 8+ years of experience in developer-facing or API-first products.
  • ✓You have a proven track record setting technical standards adopted by other teams.
  • ✓You possess deep expertise in API design, SDK strategy, and developer experience.
  • ✓You have experience with MCP, agentic commerce, or LLM-driven integrations.

Not for you if…

  • ✗You prefer building consumer-facing UI rather than backend infrastructure.
  • ✗You prefer a role without the responsibility of mentoring other PMs.
  • ✗You are looking for a role without high technical complexity or architectural oversight.

Reading between the lines

  • The mention of 'agentic commerce' and 'LLM-driven integrations' suggests the roadmap involves significant AI/automation integration.
  • Requirement to ensure other teams build in a way consistent with your standards implies a high degree of internal influence and governance.
