Sr Director, Product Management (AI Platform)

Evolent

This Director role focuses on building a foundational AI platform from the ground up within a healthcare services organization. You will lead the strategy and infrastructure for all internal and external AI capabilities.

What you’d own

  • Foundational shared platform components for all company AI capabilities
  • Enterprise-wide AI product strategy and portfolio prioritization
  • AI governance, model performance monitoring, and responsible AI frameworks
  • Management and coaching of a team of product managers

Who it’s for

A fit if you…

  • ✓You have 10+ years of experience with at least 5 in leadership roles
  • ✓You have deep expertise in LLMs, GenAI, and enterprise AI governance
  • ✓You have experience navigating healthcare regulatory landscapes like HIPAA
  • ✓You enjoy 'greenfield' projects where you define the architecture from scratch

Not for you if…

  • ✗You prefer managing established products rather than building new infrastructure
  • ✗You prefer a pure product role without people management responsibilities
  • ✗You are looking for a non-technical product role (requires deep AI/ML knowledge)

Reading between the lines

  • The 'greenfield' and 'architecture is still being shaped' phrasing suggests high initial ambiguity and the need for strong foundational decision-making.
  • The requirement to work with 'clinical and operations leaders' implies you must translate technical AI capabilities into practical healthcare workflows.

Your Future Evolves Here Evolent partners with health plans and providers to achieve better outcomes for people with most complex and costly health conditions. Working across specialties and primary care, we seek to connect the pieces of fragmented health care system and ensure people get the same level of care and compassion we would want for our loved ones. Evolent employees enjoy work/life balance, the flexibility to suit their work to their lives, and autonomy they need to get things done.

We believe that people do their best work when they're supported to live their best lives, and when they feel welcome to bring their whole selves to work. That's one reason why diversity and inclusion are core to our business. Join Evolent for the mission. Stay for the culture. What You’ll Be Doing: Evolent is building a new AI platform from the ground up, and this role owns the foundation. As Sr Director, Product Management (AI), you will define and deliver the shared platform components that every AI capability across the company will be built on.

This is a rare greenfield opportunity: the architecture is still being shaped, the first capabilities are moving into production now, and the decisions you make in the first year will determine how fast the business can move for the next five. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with architects, applied AI engineers, data scientists, and clinical and operations leaders, with direct visibility to the executive team, on a program that is central to Evolent's strategy.

If you want to build the platform rather than consume one - and to see AI change how care actually gets delivered - this is that role. Key Responsibilities : Define and articulate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for assigned product lines, aligning with Evolent Health's overall business objectives and market needs. Conduct thorough market research, competitive analysis, and customer feedback gathering to identify new opportunities and inform product decisions.

Lead, coach and guide a team of product managers, fostering a culture of high performance, innovation, collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. Collaborate closely with engineering, design, sales, marketing, and operations teams to ensure successful product development, launch, and adoption. Manage the full product lifecycle, from ideation and discovery to development, launch, growth, and eventual end-of-life planning.

Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success, identify areas for improvement, and inform future product iterations. Serve as a subject matter expert and evangelist for assigned products, representing Evolent Health at industry events, conferences, and client meetings. Drive continuous improvement in product management processes and methodologies within the organization. Manage product budgets and resource allocation effectively to achieve strategic goals.

Define and execute enterprise-wide AI product strategy aligned to corporate objectives . Lead product, engineering, and data science organizations in identifying , prioritizing, and scaling AI-enabled capabilities. Champion innovation through structured proof-of-concept programs, pilot initiatives, and AI product incubation efforts. Establish enterprise frameworks for AI governance, model performance monitoring, responsible AI, and scalability. Drive investment decisions and portfolio prioritization for GenAI and advanced analytics initiatives.

Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration) or equivalent practical experience. Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in product management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Demonstrated experience in the healthcare technology or value-based care sector is highly preferred. Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling complex software products from conception to market.

Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights and data into actionable product strategies. Excellent leadership, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Deep understanding of agile development methodologies and product lifecycle management ( e.g. Scrum, Kanban). Experience with product analytics tools and A/B testing frameworks.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory landscape and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH). Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, Engineering). Extensive leadership experience overseeing GenAI, AI/ML, or advanced analytics product portfolios. Deep expertise in LLMs, responsible AI, enterprise AI governance, and commercialization of AI products.

Proven ability to build productive partnerships with data science, engineering, and executive leadership teams. Experience scaling AI-enabled products across large healthcare, payer, provider, or technology organizations. To ensure a secure hiring process we have implemented several identity verification steps, including submission of a government issued photo ID. We conduct identity verification during interviews, and final interviews may require onsite attendance.

All candidates must complete a comprehensive background check, in-person I-9 verification, and may be subject to drug screening prior to employment. The use of artificial intelligence tools during interviews is prohibited and monitored. Misrepresentation will result in immediate disqualification from consideration. Technical Requirements: We require that all employees have the following technical capability at their home: High speed internet over 10 Mbps and, specifically for all call center employees, the ability to plug in directly to the home internet router.

About Evolent

Evolent is a healthcare company that helps health plans manage the cost and quality of specialty care, such as oncology and cardiology, using clinical programs, technology and data. Its customers are mainly health plans and provider groups rather than patients directly. It is listed on the NYSE as EVH and reported about $650 million in quarterly revenue in mid-2026, with roughly 4,500 employees. In 2025 it sold its value-based primary care unit to focus on its core specialty offerings. For a product manager, the draw is building workflow and data products for clinicians and payers, where measurable cost and outcome impact shapes the roadmap.
