Growth Product Manager

Calm

This Product Manager role focuses on growth for a major consumer mental health app. You will own the strategy and execution for subscriber acquisition, activation, and retention across mobile and web platforms.

What you’d own

  • Growth product strategy and roadmap
  • High-velocity experiment program (A/B tests)
  • User onboarding and habit-building flows
  • Subscription economics (paywalls, LTV, churn)

Who it’s for

A fit if you…

  • ✓4+ years of experience in consumer mobile or web products
  • ✓Proven track record of moving growth metrics like conversion and retention
  • ✓Expertise in subscription-based business models and paywall optimization
  • ✓Strong ability to interpret data for experimentation and roadmap prioritization

Not for you if…

  • ✗You prefer a slow-paced environment without high-velocity experimentation
  • ✗You prefer to avoid the technical nuances of subscription economics or A/B testing statistics
  • ✗You prefer not to manage extensive documentation and experiment logs

Reading between the lines

  • The emphasis on 'habit mechanics' (streaks, reminders) suggests a heavy focus on behavioral psychology in product design.
  • The requirement for 'AI-native' skills implies the team expects you to use LLMs/tools to automate your own workflows and increase output speed.

Calm has been recognized as a TIME100 Most Influential Company and one of Fast Company’s Brands That Matter . Learn more at calm.com . What You'll Do As a Growth Product Manager on Calm's direct-to-consumer business, you'll help more people discover, adopt, and build daily habits with Calm. You'll own the growth product strategy and roadmap, accountable for driving subscriber growth, activation, revenue per user, and retention.

You'll set the priorities, design and run the experiments that test them, and partner with engineering, product design, marketing, data, and research to ship what works. Your goal is to make it effortless for users to form a lasting mindfulness habit while helping Calm reach and sustain its growth goals. As a Product Manager working on Calm’s direct-to-consumer business, you will drive measurable impact across top-of-funnel conversion, trial-to-paid transitions, user activation, and long-term retention.

You will design, execute, and analyze product experiments in collaboration with engineering, design, marketing, and data science teams. Day to day, you will: Own growth strategy and roadmap: Develop and own Calm's growth product strategy and roadmap, translating company revenue, subscriber, and DAU goals into a prioritized set of bets across activation, conversion, and retention. Run a high-velocity experiment program: Form sharp hypotheses, design and ship A/B tests with engineering and data science, and read results honestly — including the ones that don't win.

Remove friction from key journeys: Use quantitative and qualitative data to find where users drop off in onboarding, habit-building, and account flows, then test simpler paths through them. Ship habit mechanics: Build the features that help users plan, track, and celebrate progress, so a first session becomes a daily practice. Write PRDs that make decisions easy : Spell out the job to be done, the opportunity, success metrics, and the plan to ship and iterate — then bring engineers, designers, marketers, and leadership along as the plan changes.

Who You Are A growth PM, or equivalent, who's owned the number: 4+ years in consumer product, with a track record of owning a growth metric (subscriber growth, conversion, retention) and setting the strategy to move it, across consumer mobile (iOS and Android) and web. A subscription-business operator: Fluent in the economics of consumer subscription (trial and paywall conversion, LTV, churn) and how product decisions show up in them. A rapid experimenter: Experienced in fast experiment design and analysis (A/B tests, holdouts, sequential testing), with the statistical judgment to know when a result is real and when it's noise.

Data-fluent: Adept at sourcing quantitative and qualitative data to prioritize a roadmap and make feature calls, and decisive when the data won't settle it. A student of habit formation: You know what drives repeat daily usage and how to build the mechanics (streaks, reminders, progress, celebration) that turn a new user into a daily one. AI-native and tooling-fluent: Highly proficient in leveraging AI tools to drive team velocity and build lasting workflows, with the judgment to know when the output is good enough and when it isn't.

Technically agile: Comfortable discussing complexity and tradeoffs with engineers, and able to prototype your own ideas rather than wait in a queue. Exceptional at documentation and organization: You keep the experiment log, results archive, and roadmap docs in a state where anyone can find what was tested, what it showed, and what's live (so the team builds on its own learnings instead of rediscovering them.) A low-ego, persuasive partner: You present your thinking clearly in writing and in the room, to stakeholders and senior leadership alike, hold positions with conviction and update them on evidence, and make Product Design, User Acquisition, Research, and Engineering better for working with you.

Nice to Haves Experience in subscription-based consumer tech (onboarding, paywalls, or retention initiatives). Familiarity with product analytics or experimentation tools (e.g., Amplitude). Experience working with or passion for the health wellness domain. Experience in developing features that drive habit formation and lifestyle change.
