Principal Product Manager, Capital Platform

Upstart

This Principal Product Manager role oversees core capital platform infrastructure within a fintech marketplace. You will lead high-impact, multi-quarter initiatives to build scalable systems for institutional partners.

What you’d own

  • Strategy and execution for major Capital Platform problem spaces
  • Scalable, configurable platform capabilities for diverse capital partners
  • Partner integrations, capital execution workflows, and reporting
  • White-label and embedded capital solutions

Who it’s for

A fit if you…

  • ✓You have 7+ years of experience owning complex, multi-quarter initiatives
  • ✓You have a track record of designing shared systems/platforms over standalone features
  • ✓You are comfortable in regulated environments with high-reliability requirements
  • ✓You can drive alignment across teams without formal authority

Not for you if…

  • ✗You prefer building simple, consumer-facing features over complex backend infrastructure
  • ✗You prefer a clearly defined roadmap over navigating significant ambiguity
  • ✗You are looking for a role with direct reports rather than an individual contributor scope

Reading between the lines

  • The emphasis on 'multi-quarter' and 'significant ambiguity' suggests you will be expected to define the product from first principles rather than executing a pre-set plan.
  • The requirement to influence without formal authority implies a heavy reliance on soft skills and organizational navigation to get things shipped.
