Lead Associate - Group Benefits Product Management

Protective

This Associate role involves managing the full lifecycle of Group Benefits products within a large insurance firm. You will oversee complex disability and life insurance offerings across multiple regulatory markets.

What you’d own

  • End-to-end lifecycle for Group Life, AD&D, and Disability (STD/LTD)
  • Statutory Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) portfolio
  • Product filings and regulatory compliance strategy
  • Cross-functional alignment across Actuarial, Underwriting, and Legal

Who it’s for

A fit if you…

  • ✓You have 15+ years of experience in insurance or employee benefits
  • ✓You excel at navigating highly matrixed environments without direct authority
  • ✓You have deep expertise in multi-state regulatory environments and product filings

Not for you if…

  • ✗You prefer a low-complexity environment (this requires heavy legislative interpretation)
  • ✗You want to work without travel (requires 10–15% travel)
  • ✗You are looking for a junior role with less responsibility (requires 15+ years of experience)

Reading between the lines

  • The requirement for '15+ years' of experience for an Associate-level title suggests a very high seniority bar and heavy reliance on domain expertise over generalist PM skills.
  • The emphasis on 'regulatory interpretation' and 'filing strategy' implies the role is as much about legal/compliance navigation as it is about product features.
  • The mention of 'driving progress... without direct authority' signals a high-ambiguity environment where influence and stakeholder management are the primary levers for success.
