Insurance Product Manager, Car

Lemonade

Senior Product Manager role focused on car insurance products. You will manage coverage, pricing, and roadmap development while integrating AI tools into the core product experience.

What you’d own

  • Car product roadmaps including connected and autonomous vehicle segments
  • Coverage, pricing, and eligibility requirements in partnership with Actuarial/Underwriting
  • Product specification documents and project requirement definitions
  • Regulatory approval processes for product changes with Insurance Operations

Who it’s for

A fit if you…

  • ✓7+ years of P&C experience with 5+ years in personal lines insurance
  • ✓Strong technical proficiency in SQL, Python, or Looker for data analysis
  • ✓Experience navigating complex regulatory environments and policy language
  • ✓Genuine interest in integrating AI tools into product workflows

Not for you if…

  • ✗You prefer a non-technical role (SQL/Python skills are preferred)
  • ✗You prefer a traditional insurance environment without an AI-first focus
  • ✗You prefer a slow-paced environment with minimal cross-functional coordination

Reading between the lines

  • The emphasis on 'moving product changes through regulatory approval' suggests a high degree of compliance and legal oversight.
  • The requirement for both Actuarial and Underwriting collaboration implies the role sits at the intersection of business, math, and risk management.

Full job description

We're looking for an Insurance Product Manager to help build the most loved car insurance on the planet. You'll be part of the Insurance Product team, working closely with Actuarial, Insurance Operations, and Underwriting to grow Lemonade Car profitably — shaping coverage, pricing, and the product roadmap that drives it all forward. From connected cars to rating plan sophistication, you'll own meaningful work that moves the product and the business.

We believe three things matter for every role at Lemonade: drive to push through challenges, efficiency that keeps standards high while moving fast, and adaptability that lets you pivot with data and AI insights. These aren't buzzwords, they're how we actually work.

Our AI-first approach isn't just a tagline either. We're building the future of insurance with AI at the center, and we need people who are genuinely excited to learn and grow alongside these tools.

In this role you'll

  • Develop new car products that meet the needs of emerging customer segments — including connected and autonomously driven cars
  • Advance our countrywide Car strategy through forms, coverages, policy language, and rating plan improvements that keep our protection cutting-edge
  • Partner with Actuarial and Underwriting to develop coverage, pricing, and eligibility requirements that balance innovation with financial soundness
  • Build product specification documents, define project requirements, and work with the Product team to prioritize and ship features that make a real difference for customers
  • Collaborate with Insurance Operations to move product changes through regulatory approval and into production — smoothly and fast
  • Research distribution channels, market trends, and competitor moves, turning findings into recommendations that grow the business
  • Measure the impact of product changes to support smarter decisions and ensure the product keeps evolving in the right direction

What you'll need

  • 7+ years of P&C experience, with at least 5 years in personal lines insurance product development, product management, or state management
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills and sharp attention to detail — you identify trends early and turn them into action
  • A strategic, ownership-driven mindset — you challenge the status quo and bring creative solutions to the table
  • Strong technical skills — SQL, Python, Looker, or similar tools, including experience building dashboards or reports, preferred
  • Solid Microsoft Office or Google Suite skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex priorities in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and a natural collaborator across teams
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and a real commitment to growing alongside these tools — it's core to how we work here
  • Ability to work in a remote environment

Please note that we are unable to sponsor applicants for work visas.

Unfortunately, we cannot consider applicants from these states: Alaska, California, Colorado, Montana, Hawaii, New Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Lemonade is a digital insurance company selling renters, homeowners, car, pet, and term life policies through an app and website, with instant quotes and claims handled largely by software. Renters coverage starts around $5 a month, and the company bundles products for discounts. Founded as a mission-driven brand and a public benefit corporation, it is listed on the NYSE and counts a high Net Promoter Score among its selling points. For a PM, it is an unusual place where product, pricing, and claims automation all live in one consumer experience.
