Product Manager, Detection Pipeline
ExpelThis Product Manager role focuses on the security integrations ecosystem. You will manage the lifecycle of connections between the platform and external security tools like EDR and SIEM.
What you’d own
- End-to-end lifecycle of the integrations product
- Six-month vision and roadmap execution
- Cross-functional communication with Sales, Success, and Marketing
- Customer relationship management for roadmap prioritization
Who it’s for
A fit if you…
- ✓You have 2–4 years of experience in security-related product management
- ✓You have deep familiarity with SIEM, EDR, and firewall products
- ✓You can translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- ✓You have experience navigating data pipeline or integration challenges
Not for you if…
- ✗You prefer a generalist role without deep domain expertise in security tools
- ✗You prefer to work in a vacuum without heavy collaboration with Sales and Success
- ✗You lack experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their specific risks
Reading between the lines
- The emphasis on 'technical conversations' with SOC analysts implies you will need to be technically credible with security engineers.
- The mention of 'meaningful work ahead' suggests the integration platform may currently have significant technical debt or a large backlog of unaddressed needs.

Benefits
Full job description
You live at the intersection of security and product management, and there's no place you'd rather be. You understand that the detection pipeline isn't just plumbing. It's the connective tissue that turns raw security data into signal, and if ingestion, normalization, or correlation break down, everything downstream suffers. You're not intimidated by the scale and complexity of data flowing through a modern security platform. Quite the opposite: you pride yourself on knowing how data moves from source to detection, where the pipeline breaks, and what it takes to make it fast, reliable, and cost effective.
You’ve got an informed opinion about what an MDR should detect, an opinion that comes from customer empathy, hands-on industry knowledge, and a set of experiences that didn’t always go as planned. You can hold a technical conversation with a SOC analyst and turn around and explain the same thing to a Sales team in plain English. You've been waiting for a role where that combination of skills actually matters. Still reading? Great. This role isn't for all PMs.
Yes, all the standard PM things apply: plan, prioritize, communicate, and own a roadmap, build relationships, and become the authority on how internal teams and customers use your platform. But in this role, you'll bring your security experience to bear on one of the most foundational parts of Expel's platform. If you get your energy from untangling how security data flows through a platform at scale and turning that into a roadmap that makes customers safer, you'll thrive here.
What Expel can do for you Give you clear ownership of a product area with measurable impact on customer value and business outcomes. Surround you with experienced security practitioners, engineers, and operators who are genuinely invested in building something great. Offer a foundation to build on: the detection pipeline is critical to Expel's platform, and there's meaningful work ahead. What you can do for Expel Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Expel's detection pipeline (normalization, correlation, and automated detections and suppressions), from defining the six month vision to driving execution with Engineering and UX.
Establish relationships with internal teams (SOC, Detection Engineering, Engineering) and customers, and use their input, alongside market and competitive signals, to build and prioritize a roadmap that maximizes impact. Be the voice of your roadmap: clearly articulating value to Detection Engineering, SOC, Sales, Customer Success, and internal stakeholders. Collaborate with Product Marketing to effectively communicate the value of the detection pipeline internally and externally.
What you should bring with you A curious, customer-obsessed mindset — you're comfortable asking "why" until you get to the real problem. 2–4 years of experience in product management or a directly relevant role, with experience in the security industry strongly preferred. Familiarity with product management and software engineering processes, from requirements definition through to launch. Familiarity with security tools — EDR, SIEM, and firewall products — and how they fit into a customer's security stack.
Broad knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and where security risks emerge in those environments. Experience with SIEM technologies is highly desired — bonus points if you've navigated integration or data pipeline challenges firsthand. Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can write a crisp user story and present to a customer in the same afternoon. The ability to build trust across Engineering, Security Operations, Sales, Customer Success, and UX.
