Sr. Product Manager, Contract Financials

Arbital Health

This Senior Product Manager role focuses on the financial settlement and performance tracking of value-based care contracts within a healthcare technology platform.

What you’d own

  • Contract Financials roadmap and feature prioritization
  • PRDs, user stories, and calculation rules
  • SQL queries and data output validation
  • Translation of contract terms into scalable features

Who it’s for

A fit if you…

  • ✓You have 3+ years of experience in B2B data or financial software products.
  • ✓You possess deep domain knowledge of value-based care contracts (e.g., capitation, risk sharing).
  • ✓You are comfortable working with technical data schemas and actuarial calculations.
  • ✓You can translate complex legal/contractual language into clear engineering requirements.

Not for you if…

  • ✗You prefer high-level strategy over hands-on data work like SQL and calculation auditing.
  • ✗You prefer a role with less ambiguity or a slower, more established pace.
  • ✗You are uncomfortable working in an environment that requires heavy cross-functional coordination between engineers and actuaries.

Reading between the lines

  • The requirement to turn 'recurring customer requests into general capabilities' suggests you will need to balance immediate client demands against long-term product scalability.
  • The emphasis on 'accuracy in financial calculations' and 'reviewing calculation outputs' implies a high-stakes environment where errors have direct financial consequences.

Full job description

Arbital Health is a rapidly growing healthcare technology and actuarial leader that centralizes, measures, and adjudicates value-based care contracts at scale.  We enable payers and providers to design, measure, and execute value-based agreements with greater transparency, efficiency, and financial predictability.
We invest in hiring high potential and humble individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and can rapidly grow their responsibilities as we continue to accelerate our growth.

We were co-founded by Brian Overstreet and Travis May (founder & former CEO of LiveRamp and Datavant, the two biggest data companies of the last 20 years), and are backed by Transformation Capital, Valtruis and other leading investors. In our first 2 years, Arbital Health has established itself as a trusted partner for over 40 payers, providers, and other stakeholders looking to navigate the complexities of risk-based contracting.

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager, Contract Financials, to own the product area that measures, settles, and projects the financial performance of value-based care contracts for payers and providers. You will work with engineers, actuaries, and clients to set priorities, write requirements, and ship features. This role needs a PM who understands how value-based care contracts work and is comfortable reading contract terms, reviewing calculation outputs, and writing clear requirements.

Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Roadmap • Own the roadmap for Contract Financials, including how its data and results are used across the platform and in AI features • Prioritize work across client needs, contract requirements, and platform improvements, and document the tradeoffs • Turn individual client and contract requirements into configurable product capabilities that work across many clients Execution & Delivery • Write PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria, including the calculation rules each feature must follow • Scope new feature requirements by comparing a new contract’s terms with the contract structures the platform already supports • Plan testing with actuaries before release, and see each feature through launch and documentation • Triage bugs and requests, set priority, and follow each through to resolution Contract & Technical Depth • Be the product expert on Contract Financials capabilities and adjacent functions, and on how value-based care contracts are measured and settled • Review contract terms with actuaries as needed to identify requirements the product does not yet support • Work hands-on with data: run SQL queries, review outputs, and check calculations against source data Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with engineering and actuarial teams on requirements, methodology, and testing • Work with Sales and client-facing teams to understand market needs and buyer priorities, and use that input to set the roadmap • Educate internal teams on existing product capabilities, and decide whether to build support for contract terms the platform does not handle yet • Communicate roadmap priorities, tradeoffs, and delivery status to internal teams and clients Ownership & Communication • Act as the main product contact for Contract Financials questions and requests • Write release notes and product updates for internal teams and clients

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, actuarial, analytics, or a similar role, with at least 3 years as a product manager on B2B data, analytics, or financial software products • Working knowledge of value-based care contracts, from an actuarial background or from VBC finance or operations: shared savings, capitation, MLR, benchmarks and targets, attribution, risk sharing, reconciliation and settlement, and IBNR • Track record of owning a product area end to end, from discovery through release and adoption • Experience building scalable SaaS or platform products used by many customers, including turning recurring customer requests into general capabilities • Experience using AI tools in daily product work, such as drafting PRDs and user stories, prototyping features, analyzing data and customer feedback, and writing queries • Ability to read a contract or settlement report and turn it into clear, buildable requirements • Comfortable reading data schemas, writing SQL, and reviewing calculation outputs with engineers and actuaries • Experience working with clients or client-facing teams • Experience with healthcare data such as claims, eligibility, revenue, and risk scores • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to tailor messaging to actuaries, engineers, and business audiences • High attention to detail and a strong bias toward accuracy in financial calculations • Comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving, early-stage environment

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in payer or provider contract operations, VBC finance, or settlement reconciliation • Experience with Medicare Advantage, ACO REACH, MSSP, Medicaid, or Commercial value-based contracts • Prior work at a health tech startup or data-driven healthcare company • Experience with R, Python or similar analysis tools • ASA or FSA credential, or experience as an actuarial analyst

Compensation & Benefits
USD 185,000 – 215,000 / per-year-salary

About Arbital Health

See all roles →

Arbital Health builds infrastructure for value-based care, giving healthcare payers and providers a single platform to manage risk-based contracts instead of retroactively reporting on them. It unifies claims, utilization, benchmark, and contract data, then layers on predictive models and 'Actuarial AI' that lets teams interrogate contract performance conversationally and get actuarial-grade recommendations in minutes. Each engagement pairs the software with a dedicated value-based care actuary, and customers include HarmonyCares, SonarMD, and UNC Health. Founded in late 2023 by Travis May and Brian Overstreet, it has grown partly by acquiring actuarial teams, and every employee is an equity holder. The team works flexibly across at least ten states with paid parental leave and flexible PTO.
