AI USE IN OUR HIRING PROCESS
We use technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to support parts of our hiring process. This may include AI-assisted scheduling and candidate communications, and AI-generated interview notes, guides or summaries to help our team focus on the conversation. All hiring decisions are made by our hiring team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Float is building Canada's complete business finance platform. As we scale Cards, Bill Pay, Business Accounts, and adjacent financial services, the shared product experiences that tie them all together become the most important surface area in the product. Approvals, user management, access controls, automation, transaction coding, notifications, integrations: these are the workflows every Float customer interacts with daily, and they all live within our platform domain.
We're hiring a Staff Product Manager, Platform to own the strategy, and execution of Float's product platform. This person will shape how the platform evolves over the coming years to support the growing complexity of our product portfolio and the businesses we serve. The role spans both customer-facing product experiences and the shared capabilities that other product teams at Float build on top of.
This is not a developer productivity or infrastructure role. This is an individual contributor product role with direct commercial accountability, where success is measured by customer outcomes, platform adoption across the product portfolio, and the business results the platform drives.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Own and shape Float's product platform, including how it evolves to support our mission of becoming Canada's primary financial platform for businesses.
- Own customer-facing product experiences that live within the platform domain: approvals, user management, access controls, transaction coding rules, and integrations.
- Drive direct commercial outcomes through the platform. We think of the platform as directly tied to revenue, retention, and adoption, not as a back-office function that ships to internal teams without external impact.
- Build and maintain the foundational shared capabilities (design patterns, APIs, data models, primitives) that all of our products build on top of. Your success is measured in part by how much faster other teams ship because of what you've built.
- Partner with Product Leads across all MATs to understand their needs and ensure platform investments are aligned to the highest-leverage opportunities across the portfolio.
- Establish clear intake, prioritization, and dependency management between platform and product teams.
- Operate in lockstep with Engineering leads, the CTO, and Head of Product to shape architecture trade-offs and execution priorities.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate discovery, synthesis, and decision-making.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE (6-12 MONTHS)
- The platform has a clear multi-quarter vision that the leadership team is aligned on, with a credible path to driving direct business outcomes.
- Product teams across Float are building on shared platform capabilities, and they view the platform as a force multiplier.
- Platform investments are demonstrably tied to commercial outcomes: retention, adoption, expansion, and customer satisfaction.
- Clear platform metrics exist and improve over time across both customer-facing and internal dimensions.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- You Put Customers First. You think about the end customer experience across the entire product portfolio, not just internal stakeholders.
- You Act Like an Owner. You take accountability for business outcomes, not just roadmaps or internal tooling.
- You Think in Systems. You see the connections across products and can design shared experiences that hold up as the portfolio grows.
- You Have Strong Commercial Intuition. You understand how platform decisions impact revenue, retention, and growth, and you orient your work around those outcomes.
- You're a Visionary and a Builder. You can articulate a compelling long-term platform vision and translate it into concrete quarterly execution.
- You're AI-First. You actively use AI tools to improve speed, clarity, and decision quality.
IN ADDITION TO LIVING OUR VALUES, YOU BRING:
- 7+ years in product management, with significant experience owning a product platform surface, shared services, or horizontal product experiences across a multi-product portfolio.
- Demonstrated ability to own both customer-facing product experiences and internal platform capabilities simultaneously.
- Track record of tying platform or horizontal product work to measurable business outcomes, not just internal adoption.
- Experience working across multiple product teams and influencing without authority in a scaling organization.
- Comfort with technical depth (APIs, data models, integrations) without needing to be an infrastructure specialist.
THIS MAY NOT BE THE ROLE FOR YOU IF…
- You prefer shipping visible features over building cross-team leverage.
- You struggle to tie platform work to business outcomes and measurable metrics.
- You’re attached to specific solutions over outcomes and adoption.
- You’re resistant to AI-enabled workflow change.
OUR HIRING PHILOSOPHY
- Values > Aptitude > Skills
- Slope > Intercept

Float is a Canadian business finance platform combining corporate cards (CAD and USD, with both pre-funded and charge models), expense management, bill pay, and high-yield business accounts earning up to 4% interest. It's effectively the Canada-built answer to Brex and Ramp, serving 4,000+ companies including Knix, Cohere, Jane Software, and TouchBistro. The company raised a $70M CAD Series B in early 2025 led by Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives with OMERS Ventures participating, on the back of 50x revenue growth. Co-founded by Rob Khazzam (ex-Uber) and Ruslan Nikolaev (ex-Uber ATG and Shopify), Float is focused exclusively on Canadian businesses — accounting integrations, CRA-ready software, and CAD/USD specifically.
