Full job description
Location: Remote Department: Product You live at the intersection of security and product management — and there's no place you'd rather be. You understand that integrations aren't just plumbing. They're the connective tissue that makes security operations actually work — and if they don’t pass the quality test, everything downstream suffers. You're not intimidated by the sprawling landscape of security tools and cloud platforms out there. Quite the opposite: you pride yourself on knowing how they fit together, where the gaps are, and what it actually takes to make them work in a customer's environment. You’ve got an informed opinion about what an MDR should detect, an opinion that comes from customer empathy, hands-on industry knowledge, and a set of experiences that didn’t always go as planned. You can hold a technical conversation with a SOC analyst and turn around and explain the same thing to a Sales team in plain English. You've been waiting for a role where that combination of skills actually matters. Still reading? Great. This role isn't for all PMs. Yes, all the standard PM things apply — plan, prioritize, communicate, and own a roadmap, build relationships, and become the authority on how customers use your product. But in this role, you'll bring your security experience to bear on one of the most foundational parts of Expel's platform. If you get your energy from keeping a pulse on the security tool landscape and translating that knowledge into a roadmap that makes customers safer, you'll thrive here. What Expel can do for you Give you clear ownership of a product area with measurable impact on customer value and business outcomes. Surround you with experienced security practitioners, engineers, and operators who are genuinely invested in building something great. Offer a foundation to build on — integrations are critical to Expel's platform, and there's meaningful work ahead. What you can do for Expel Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Expel's integrations, from defining the six- month vision to driving execution with Engineering and UX. Establish relationships with customers and use their input — alongside market and competitive signals — to build and prioritize a roadmap that maximizes impact. Be the voice of your features: clearly articulating value to Sales, Customer Success, and internal stakeholders. Collaborate with Product Marketing to effectively communicate the value of integrations internally and externally. What you should bring with you A curious, customer-obsessed mindset — you're comfortable asking "why" until you get to the real problem. 2–4 years of experience in product management or a directly relevant role, with experience in the security industry strongly preferred. Familiarity with product management and software engineering processes, from requirements definition through to launch. Familiarity with security tools — EDR, SIEM, and firewall products — and how they fit into a customer's security stack. Broad knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and where security risks emerge in those environments. Experience with SIEM technologies is highly desired — bonus points if you've navigated integration or data pipeline challenges firsthand. Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can write a crisp user story and present to a customer in the same afternoon. The ability to build trust across Engineering, Security Operations, Sales, Customer Success, and UX. Additional notes The base salary range for this role is between $114,300 USD and $165,700 USD + bonus eligibility and equity. We believe in paying transparently and equitably. Your salary will ultimately be based on factors such as your experience, skills, team equity, and market data. You’ll also be eligible for unlimited PTO (which we model and encourage), work location flexibility, up to 24 weeks of parental leave, and really excellent health benefits We’re only hiring those authorized to work in the United States. We do not currently sponsor immigration visas. We're an Equal Opportunity Employer: You'll receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or on the basis of disability. We’ll ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please let us know if you need accommodation of any kind. #LI-Remote Salary Range $114,300 — $165,700 USD

Expel runs a managed detection and response (MDR) service that combines human analysts in the SOC with AI-driven triage, plugging into the customer's existing security stack rather than forcing a tool swap. Customers like Visa, United Airlines, Uber, Affirm, and dbt Labs use Expel for 24/7 monitoring with a stated 13-17 minute MTTR on critical incidents; everything is visible in real time through their Expel Workbench portal. The company was founded in 2016 by former Mandiant and FireEye operators, hit unicorn status in 2021 with a $140M Series E, and went through a 10% layoff in 2023. Remote-friendly with 24 weeks of parental leave and flexible hours.
