What you'll do Kentik is seeking a talented and passionate Sr Product Manager to join our team and support our entire Infrastructure Observability portfolio from a platform perspective. You will be driving the evolution of all platform capabilities that our entire portfolio relies on. Teaming up with all Product Managers within Kentik, you will define and execute the roadmap for all the platform features that power our comprehensive Core, Service Provider, Cloud, Synthetic Monitoring, Alerting and NMS product lines. This unique opportunity within the Product Management team calls for a versatile product management profile as it requires a healthy blend of Networking/Cloud domain knowledge, SaaS Platform Engineering, and more traditional product craft altogether. In this role, you will: Understand and map out platform requirements from both Customers and Product Managers, define the associated roadmap for the platform to support these, and work with both backend and frontend engineering teams to deliver them Act as Product Management’s main liaison with Platform engineering, teaming up with them to deliver next levels of scale, or unlock technology evolutions to enable future features in all lanes of our portfolio Roadmap and orchestrate the development of these new features, support their timely delivery and lifecycle, be the internal and customer champion who owns them Further define and strengthen Kentik’s API first strategy and drive evolutions that help our customers integrate Kentik more tightly into their infrastructure operations Partner with Kentik’s Engineering and Operations team to further productize and package our OnPrem vs SaaS platform deployments Own the strategy, lifecycle and roadmap for all of the company’s Telemetry agents Extend the breadth of Kentik’s platform capabilities in areas such as: topology, event management, external Internet datasets used for telemetry enrichment You don't only craft products - you deliver the accompanying vision and strive to deliver a compact yet clearly defined message to both customers and partners within the company What you'll bring Studies have shown that some candidates tend to apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. We encourage you to apply if you meet most of the criteria - even if you don’t match all of the qualifications, your skills and experience could be valuable in this role! 5+ years experience of Product Management or Engineering in one or more of these areas: Network Engineering, Network Management Systems, Network Performance Management, Network Performance/Monitoring, DDoS detection and mitigation Practitioner-level knowledge of standard networking technologies: TCP/IP, Routing, BGP, SNMP, Streaming Telemetry, Network Flow Monitoring Comfortable navigating deeply technical topics, such as networking protocols, large scale distributed systems, API management and Software Agents Excellent written and verbal communication, and ability to present ideas to technical and non-technical crowds Strong collaboration skills - you will need to communicate effectively with and orchestrate many other functions within the organization Well versed in the Engineering and Operational best practices for both Service Provider and Enterprise networks, and are able to navigate their specificities Ability to drive project independently - our staff is geographically distributed, and our employees need to be able to map out steps towards a successful future target Creative and curious mindset - you exhibit constant technical curiosity, you like ideating and prototyping iteratively using any tool at hand: code, sql queries, spreadsheets, presentation and don’t shy away from technology-heavy problems Nice to haves: You have a tinkerer mindset - whether it is code, sql, mockups - you are curious by nature and eager to learn the tools of adjacent trades to build your products Prior experience with SaaS companies: their complexities, their scale, and the foundations that power their features Prior experience with Metrics platforms, Network Flow Monitoring (for a Network Equipment Vendor or Network Engineering/Operations Team) or Inter Domain Routing (Peering, Transit…) Interest in Big Data and large sets of data, whether via SQL or any programmatic methods to find meaning in haystacks of metrics Prior experience with observability adjacent domains such as Network Automation, Network-focused ML/AI You have worked in or with Engineering Management on infrastructure related products Familiar with best practices in Infrastructure Security, whether from a product or technology perspective What we offer Kentik is a fully remote company that operates globally. The compensation range for this position is: $190,000– $225,000. This range reflects the low and high end of the U.S. compensation range Kentik reasonably and generally expects to pay the hired candidate in this role.
