Full job description
Location: Remote - USA Department: Growth About Engine At Engine, we’re transforming business travel into something personalized, rewarding, and simple. For too long, managing travel and spend has been overwhelming and fragmented — we’re here to change that. We believe the future of travel should be seamless and powered by technology that delights customers at every step. That’s why we’re building a platform that brings together corporate travel, a powerful charge card, and modern spend management in one place. To make this vision real, we’re looking for exceptional, mission-driven people to help redefine how businesses manage and experience travel. More than 20,000 companies already rely on Engine to support over 1 million travelers and billions in annual bookings each year. Cash flow positive with rapid growth, we pair exclusive Engine-only rates, industry-leading rewards, and intelligent automation to help businesses save money while delivering world-class personalization and convenience. Backed by Telescope Partners, Blackstone, and Permira, Engine has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing travel and fintech platforms in North America, with honors including the Deloitte Fast 500 and Built In’s Best Places to Work. Scale Engine's growth by making the product the primary engine of discovery, adoption, and expansion. You'll own the full growth product surface — from first click to multi-product power user — and lead the team building the systems that get us there. Why this role matters Engine is the travel and spend management platform transforming how businesses move. We're cash flow positive, scaling rapidly, and backed by Telescope Partners, Blackstone, and Permira — and our next growth phase depends on making the product itself the most powerful driver of acquisition, activation, and expansion. The opportunity for the growth product team is massive. Every improvement we see in acquisition and activation compounds impact across the customer base. Engine customers who activate on more than one product are far more likely to grow and stay with Engine. What you'll own PLG strategy and execution across the full funnel: acquisition, activation, expansion, cross-sell (hotel → car/flight, Direct Bill, Flex Pro, Engine X, Rewards), and referrals. Communications platform: owning and evolving the system that manages and maintains all product communications, from trigger logic and CustomerIO integrations to notification strategy. Experimentation rigor: establishing and scaling a disciplined test-and-learn engine: hypothesis development, test sizing, targeting and cohort design, deployment standards, and post-test learning infrastructure. Horizontal growth surfaces: dashboard cards, banners, tooltips, empty states, post-booking modals, and other reusable surfaces that deliver contextual nudges across the product lifecycle. Targeting models: Building our next best action modeling from the ground in partnership with the data science team. Roadmap and prioritization: balancing short-term experiment velocity with longer-term foundational investments (onboarding architecture, AM triaging systems, intent collection). Team leadership: managing and developing a team of PMs, aligning closely with design, engineering, data, and go-to-market partners. The problems you'll solve This team operates at the intersection of speed and rigor. You'll be expected to ship fast, learn faster, and build durable infrastructure where it matters. Some of the challenges you'll inherit: Improving activation: showing the right experience to the right user even before conversion to help customers be successful Closing the gap between signal and action: we know what triggers should drive cross-sell and expansion, but the in-product machinery to act on them is early. Making experimentation more rigorous: sizing, targeting, guardrails, and post-test learning need to become consistent practice across every PLG initiative. Clarifying when to experiment vs. when to invest in foundational infrastructure, and socializing that distinction across the org. Getting to multi-product accounts at scale: test into and prove the ideal customer journey for discovering and using other Engine products. What you'll bring 7+ years in product management, including 2+ years leading a team of PMs or in a group PM capacity. Deep PLG experience: you've built or scaled self-serve growth motions, and you understand the difference between a tactic and a system. Strong AI execution: You can ship small-cut fixes and improvements yourself. Claude or GPT is tightly integrated into your workflows. Experimentation fluency: you know how to size a test, design a hypothesis, set guardrails, and turn results into durable learning. You raise the bar when it isn't set high enough. Strong analytical instincts: you're comfortable in Amplitude, can interrogate a funnel, and know which metrics to trust and which to question. Systems thinking: you distinguish between foundational product investment and lightweight experimentation, and you know how to sequence both. Cross-functional credibility: you work well with engineers, designers, data, and go-to-market teams, and you know how to drive alignment without burning cycles. Hands-on leadership: you set strategy and dive in yourself. We accept applications for this role on an ongoing basis. We review applications as they are received and encourage interested candidates to apply early. Engine is a travel management platform built for small and mid-market businesses, simplifying how companies book and manage flights, hotels, and car rentals for employees. It combines a self-serve booking interface with policy controls, centralized billing, and reporting — replacing the fragmented experience of employees booking on personal cards and submitting expense reports.
